The 2020 Poquoson Seafood Festival Is Cancelled
It is with profound disappointment that the City of Poquoson announces the cancellation of the 2020 Poquoson Seafood Festival. This decision was reached after much deliberation and the recognition that the continuing public health emergency related to COVID-19 and Virginia’s current and anticipated future restrictions on the size of social gatherings and social distancing requirements makes it impossible to conduct the event this year.
Established in 1981 as a Salute to the Working Watermen of the Chesapeake Bay and a celebration of Poquoson’s rich coastal heritage, the Festival is mindful of the need to ensure the safety of our attendees, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, entertainers, and festival staff. The decision to cancel the 2020 Poquoson Seafood Festival reflects a commitment to do so.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to the 40th Anniversary of the Poquoson Seafood Festival, October 15-17, 2021.
Additionally, the City of Poquoson is pleased to note that staff is working on the development of a new special event which is planned for Spring of 2021 in Poquoson Municipal Park and we will share details of the event as they become available.
